Doctor says extra vitamins aren’t just unnecessary – they may be harmful

NEW ORLEANS — Vitamins are essential to good health. But now a local doctor is questioning conventional thinking. Do we already get enough vitamins from our diets and is taking extra vitamins potentially harmful? For years we’ve been told to load up on the antioxidant vitamins, that they would mop up the byproduct or waste of using oxygen in our bodies. We were told those byproducts were bad for us and made us age faster or get sick. Well now a local doctor and scientist is challenging that theory that’s been around for years.
